The Research Collaboratory for Structural Bioinformatics (RCSB) is
a dedicated organization to improve our understanding of the function of biological
systems through the study of the 3-D structure of biological macromolecules.
RCSB provides free public resources and publications to assist others and further
the fields of bioinformatics and biology.
RCSB members include, RCSB-Rutgers, RCSB-SDSC (San Diego Supercomputer Center) and RCSB-BMRB (Bio Mag Res Bank).
In 1998, RCSB became responsible for the
management of the Protein Data Bank (PDB). PDB archive is the single worldwide repository
of information about the 3D structures of large biological molecules,
including proteins and nucleic acids.
